Samban es una antigua sociedad gobernante. Esta comunidad ha hecho muchas comunidades excelentes en los últimos tiempos. Sambavar fue una de las sociedades más respetadas antes del siglo XIII.
Eran patriarcas reales, guerreros y santos antes del siglo XII.
En la inscripción del templo Tanjore del rey de la dinastía Chola Rajaraja-1, se menciona la victoria del guerrero Samban.
De los 24 grandes propietarios, 14 propietarios pertenecían a esta poderosa comunidad noble de Samban (inscripción de Rajendra Chola -1). Ellos gobernaron el sur de la India y el resto de la India.

சாம்பான்கள் ஓர் பண்டைய ஆளும் சமூகம். சமீபகாலத்தில் இந்த சமூகத்திலிருந்து பல சிறந்த சமூகங்களை உருவாக்கியது. 13 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டுக்கு முன்னர் சாம்பான்கள் மிகுந்த மரியாதைக்குரிய சமூகத்தில் ஒன்றாகும்.
